PHOTOVOLTAIC

ECC LTD. specializes in the marketing, design, installation, operation, and maintenance of photovoltaic systems for residential, industrial use, or as power generation and trading stations to third parties.

What are Photovoltaic Systems?

Photovoltaic systems convert solar energy into electricity, comprising various components that facilitate this conversion. The most essential part of a photovoltaic system is the solar panels. These panels, typically square-shaped frames, act as solar energy collectors that convert solar radiation into electricity. They can be installed on building rooftops, roofs, or on the ground. In addition to photovoltaic panels, these systems include mounting systems, batteries, inverters, energy meters, and charge regulators.

Types of Photovoltaic Networks:

Autonomous Grid: This type of network operates independently without connection to the main power grid.

Grid-Connected System: This system is connected to the Public Power Corporation (PPC) grid. Producers of electricity through solar power use the electricity they need and sell any excess to PPC. In a grid-connected system, batteries are not necessary because excess electricity is stored in the PPC grid. This results in lower costs and ensures a steady supply of electricity even on cloudy days when solar energy is insufficient.

It is important to note that PPC acts as an intermediary, managing the electricity network. The payments for electricity sold to PPC come from DESMIE (Hellenic Electricity Transmission System Operator), a company that collaborates with the Greek Government.

Photovoltaic systems represent one of the most advanced energy technologies, and continuous advancements are expected in this field. As the technology evolves, its adoption and development will increasingly shape the future of energy.
